PISD Multi-ethnic Committee
Seeks Diversity Leadership Award Nominations by December 13

Student Art Depicting DiversityThe Plano Independent School District’s Multi-Ethnic Committee announces the Fifth Annual Diversity Leadership Award.

Due to the inclement weather on Thursday, December 8, the deadline for submitting applications has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13.

Nominations will be solicited through December 9, 2005, from the entire community, but especially from the students and staff of Plano ISD. One change for this year is at least four awards will be presented. Awards will include combinations of the following:

  • student (or group of students, student organization) that affects the district in important ways,
  • teacher, principal, or other school based employee,
  • group which has done the most to foster the improvement of relations and understanding between individuals and groups of different races, cultures, ethnicities, or religions during the previous school year.

Nomination Forms

The selection committee will consist of members of the Multi-Ethnic Committee and a Plano ISD representative designated by the Superintendent of Schools. The awardees must be approved by the committee and will be presented to the PISD Board of Trustees.

The Award will be presented to the winners at the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration to be held on January 19, 2006, at Plano Centre.
