Theatre Advances to UIL Regional Meet at Texas Tech

The
Plano East Theatre Department’s production of THE MARRIAGE
OF BETTE AND BOO won the UIL Area Contest at Coppell High School
on Saturday, April 8.
They were also awarded 7 individual medals
including Best Actor, Chris Villalobos and All Star Cast members
Ozi Akagha and Pierce Purselley.
Students receiving Honorable
Mentions include Tatiana Hullender, Colin Welch and T. J. Adams.
Jessica
Andrewartha was given the Technical Award.
Other cast and
crew members include Sarah King, Allan Kahn, Lindsay Coffin,
Thomas Magbee, Bethany Law, David Quintero, Ruchi Fruitwala and
Brandt
Gentry.
These students will now compete in the UIL Regional
Meet in Lubbock at Texas Tech on Saturday, April 22. Over
300 5A high
schools started the competition in March and only 24
make it to the regional level.
This is the fifth appearance by
Plano
East at the UIL Regional Meet in the past six years. Two
schools from
each of the four regions will advance to the UIL State
Meet
in Austin the first week of May.
Plano East will present
its award
winning show on Tuesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. in
the theatre. Admission is free.
