Elementary District Science
Fair

Despite very cold weather, the elementary and 6th grade District Science Fair was well attended on Saturday, February 18. Judges commented that student's projects were better than ever and that during interviews, students were very knowledgeable and proud of their work. This year 6,250 students participated in building science fairs and 300 students participated in the district fair.
Grand Prize trophies were awarded to lower elementary (grades 1-3),
upper elementary (grades 4-5) and for grade 6. Ginger Britain, elementary science coordinator, reported that Hickey Elementary had the highest percentage of students entering a project with 69.89% of their students participating, and they won the elementary trophy for high points.
Mendenhall Elementary had 331 projects entered in their building fair, which won them the largest number of projects trophy. Frankford Middle School had 22.02% of their 6th grade students submitting a project, and they received the trophy for 6th grade high points.
