Invited to Nov. 17
Hunt Elementary Dedication
October 13, 2005
The
Plano ISD Board of Trustees and administration invite the community
to attend
the dedication and open house for the new Martha
J. Hunt Elementary School to be held at 7:00
p.m. on Thursday, November 17. The school is located at 1201 Oriole
Drive in Murphy.
The elementary school opened with
413 students in August. It is among two new elementary schools
in Plano. McCall Elementary School was dedicated last month. The
campus is named for Martha J. Hunt, retired Plano ISD educator,
who served for many years as principal at Plano ISD's Mendenhall
Elementary School, Plano ISD's first stand-alone
elementary school building located on 18th Street in the heart
of the downtown Plano historic district.
Martha served as a teacher, coordinator and principal in Plano
ISD for 42 years, before retiring in 1997. "I would do it
all again with very few changes," she said recently. She often
speaks of Plano ISD as her "first and last" job, stating, "There
are very few things in life that give more reward and satisfaction
than that of being
a child's teacher and friend."
