2006 National Merit Semifinalists
September 15, 2005
Eighty-five Plano ISD seniors have captured Semifinalist standing
in the 51st Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically
talented students are among 16,000 of their peers nationwide who
represent less than one percent of the nation ’s high school
seniors.
Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition
for some 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards, worth $30
million, that will be offered next spring. More than
1.3 million juniors in over 21,000
U.S. high schools entered the 2006 National Merit Program
by taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test
(SAT), which served as the
initial screen of program entrants.
