Students Capture Numerous State Science Fair Awards
April 3, 2006
On Thursday March 30, 65 secondary science students traveled
to San Antonio for the Exxon Mobile Texas State Science and Engineering
Fair and returned with recognition and awards for many students.
High school grand prize winners will attend the International Science
and Engineering Fair to be held in May.
In Summary, Plano students received four grand prize awards, eight
first place awards, six second place awards, three third place
awards and one fourth place award. Plano students also received
26 special awards, scholarships, and government awards.

According to Linda Flack, Plano ISD secondary science coordinator,
the competition at state was one of the most competitive she has
seen in years, with many outstanding projects.
She noted
that, "All
students attending qualified at one of the most recognized and
outstanding regional fairs in the
nation on March 25, and all have made significant accomplishments
in qualifying to attend the state science fair."

ISD students achieved a new record this year, with seven projects
and 13 students advancing to the international fair. "We captured
the four first place titles at both regional and state, which increases
the number of projects attending by four," reported Ms. Flack. "It
has been an incredible year for Plano ISD."
