Stinson
Overcrowding Relief
March 24, 2006
At their March 21 meeting,
school trustees requested that staff look for an innovative solution
to alleviate overcrowding
at
Stinson Elementary School without disrupting the surrounding campuses.
On March 24, the board reviewed the solution
as presented by
administrators.
This solution involves securing property
for a school site and money to construct a new school to
open in August, 2007, to
relieve Stinson, Boggess and Miller elementary schools. This
is a unique solution to meet a common need in PISD.
This action
is the least disruptive while long term financial matters are
considered for a future bond election. As a result
of trustees' action, no students from Stinson will
be rezoned to another school in August, 2006.
