2006 Teacher of the Year Gala

Plano ISD and AXA Equitable presented the Plano ISD Teacher of the Year Gala "A Night in Old San Antone" on May 11, 2006. Nearly 1,400 educators, community leaders and sponsors attended the event which celebrated teaching excellence.

Karen Shepherd, 2006 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year, (with husband Troy at the gala) was named Plano ISD Teacher of the Year in May, 2005. Karen continued in the competition to win the Region 10 and State Teacher of the Year titles. Science Department Chair at Plano Senior High School, Karen was recently honored at the National Teacher of the Year awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., where she met the President and First Lady.
