The
High Technology Education Coalition of Collin County (Hi-TECCC)
presented an event at Armstrong Middle School on October 12 to
inform students and their parents of career opportunities.

Volunteers
from Hi-TECCC industries, including Collin County Community College,
Raytheon, Texas Instruments and Nortel, made presentations to students
in their science classes during the day and held meetings for parents
during the evening. Teachers
also led students through fun science activities in physics and
chemistry.
The
event provided parents with tools and resources to help them make
decisions for students
in preparing for college. Guest speakers were Scott Douglas, SMU
professor, and Eddie McClanahan from Texas Instruments. Pictured

and Dylan Richmond.
In
addition to entities listed above, the Hi-TECCC coalition includes
Plano ISD, Lockheed Martin and the University of TExas at Dallas.
The coalition was formed in 2004. Its mission is focused on the
promotion of a high-quality science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM) education for
North Texas students.
