Jackson
Elementary Choir
Sings at Child Advocacy Event
December 1, 2006
It's
not every day that school children get to miss school to play with
shovels, dump trucks and hang out with a Senator. Several Jackson
Elementary 5th graders did just that this week.
The Collin County Children's Advocacy Center held a groundbreaking
ceremony for Wendy's Wing on November 29, and the Jackson
Elementary 5th Grade Choir was invited to perform.
Under the direction of Music Specialist Susan McDonald, the choir
performed "Touch the Future" wearing yellow construction
hard hats. The souvenir hard hats as well as school bus transportation
were underwritten by generous benefactors for the event.

5th Grade Students Birinder Nijjar, Patrick Liu, Spencer Nauta,
Caroline Duncan and Analaura Rocha are shown here with Bruce Glasscock,
CCCAC Board President; Florence Shapiro, Senator of the State of
Texas; Tom Engibous, Philanthropist; Wendy Engibous, Philanthropist;
and Susan Etheridge, CCCAC Executive Director.
Wendy's Wing is an expansion of the current facility for treatment
of victims of child abuse. CCCAC partners with Child Protective
Services, District Attorney offices, law enforcement agencies as
well as medical personnel to provide assistance to abuse victims
in Collin
County.
