High School One-Act Play Awards

December 1, 2006

Plano ISD's five high schools (grades 9-10) - Clark, Jasper, Shepton, Vines and Williams - practiced their craft for weeks and brought their shows to Plano West Senior High School to participate in the Annual High School One-Act Play Competition on November 18.

The five schools prepared a One-Act Play and competed using the rules created by the University Interscholastic League and the rules by which the senior high schools across the state must abide in their UIL Competition held in the Spring of each year.

Clark High School

Clark High School presented the play, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM by William Shakespeare and directed by Becky Turney. Clark won the following individual awards: Jeff Moffitt, Becky Scaduto, Sarah Schulz, Shannon Spangler, and Nilajah Mauge, All Star Cast; Chris Sterling, All Star Technical Crew; Neha Sharma, Aubree Barnett, Karsten Otto, and Lindsey Kite, Honorable Mention.

Jasper High School

Jasper High School presented the play, TEACH ME HOW TO CRY by Patricia Jaudry and directed by Chris Mann and Renee Harris. Individuals who received awards were; Nick Tatum, Best Actor; Angel Bernades, All Star Cast, Charlotte Hokens, All Star Technical Crew; and Krista Oleson, Honorable Mention.

Shepton High School

Shepton High School presented the play, THE ACTOR’S NIGHTMARE by Christopher Durang and directed by Laura Darce, Jeni Helms, and Carmen McElwain. This show was one of two winning plays. The following students won individual awards: Phillip Posen, Brian Wucinski, and Kara Dunlevy, All Star Cast; and Becca Koopferstock, All Star Technical Crew.

Vines High School

Vines High School presented the play, BOBBY WILSON CAN EAT HIS OWN FACE by Don Zolidis and directed by Paige Skipper. Vines was one of two winning plays. Individuals who received awards were: Morgan Scotts, Best Actress; Justin Amos, All Star Cast; John Hines All Star Technical Crew; Blair Wooten, Omar Ahmed, and Erica Harvey, Honorable Mention.

Williams High School

Williams High School presented the play, BLACK ELK SPEAKS by Christopher Sergel and directed by Mandi Wofford, Jacalyn Cook, and Robin Liesenfelt. This play won Runner Up. Individuals who received awards were: Kristpher Hawkins, Spenser Boldman and Katy Rodriguez, All Star Cast; Crystal Xia, All Star Technical Crew.

Congratulations to these talented young actors who were judged by professional director and UIL qualified adjudicator, Michael Bolen from Denton Texas.
