Regional
Spelling Bee Winner
to Compete in Washington, D.C.
April 13, 2007
Amy
Chyao, Murphy Middle School seventh grade student, captured the
regional spelling bee for the second consecutive year in March,
by correctly spelling 'hypobulia.' With the victory, the seventh-grader
from
Murphy Middle School advanced to the Scripps Howard National
Spelling Bee in May in Washington, D.C.
"I feel so good. The words were really hard – harder
than last year," Amy told the "Dallas Morning News" (read
full article ). "I
don't even remember what the word means, but I was excited to spell
it right. I definitely
believe
luck
played a part in this."
Amy finished 30th in last year's national bee.
