Preparing
for Test-Taking Days
April 13, 2007
Students
in grades 3-5, 7, 9-10 and Exit Level will take state-mandated
TAKS tests April 16 week. Test
Schedule (16k)
Plano ISD counselors offer the following
tips for preparing for exams any time
of the year.
The day before the test
- Go to bed at a decent hour. Not too early,
though, or you'll end up having a fitful sleep.
- Set your alarm
clock and ask a sibling or your parents to set theirs too.
- Don't study. By this point, cramming probably won't help, and
it might stress you out. (especially for students taking
college entrance
exams)
The morning of the test
- Eat breakfast. The first meal of the day has
been proven to fuel both body and brain.
- Wear comfortable
clothes and dress in layers. This way you'll be
covered whether the test center is an icebox
or a sauna.
- Use the bathroom before the test begins.
- Try not to chat with
friends before the test or during breaks.
- Don't
listen to what others say about the test - trust
your own instincts.
