2008 Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Awards

Teachers Deborah Johnston and Becky Higgs (l-r) captured 2008 Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Teaching Awards. The Schimelpfenig and Bowman middle school educators, respectively, each received $10,000 awards. Four additional Plano teachers were named STEM award finalists.
STEM Award Winners
Winners each earned $5,000 cash awards and $5,000 for classroom technology and professional development from the Texas Instruments Foundation.

Teacher winners and finalists were presented with awards at the May 20 meeting of the Plano ISD Board of Trustees.
Presentation remarks were made by Jim Hirsch, associate superintendent for academic and technology services; Ralph Stow, president of the Plano ISD Education Foundation; Torrence Robinson, director of public affairs for Texas Instruments; and Dr. Jim Wussow, Plano ISD executive director of secondary curriculum.
