Plano ISD hosted the Texas Academic Decathlon tournament February 29 and March 1 at Plano West Senior High School. The weekend event culminated with a Sunday, March 2, awards ceremony held at Marriott Plano Legacy Town Center.

The Academic Decathlon® is a 10-event scholastic competition. Each high school enters a team of nine students: 3 "A" or Honor students, 3 "B" or Scholastic students, and 3 "C" or Varsity students. The theme for the 2007–2008 Academic Decathlon season is The Civil War (1861-1865).
