District Elementary Science Fair

Plano ISD hosted its annual Elementary District Science Fair on Saturday, February 16. Some 311 first place and grand prize winners from elementary and middle schools competed in the fair. In all, 282 projects were displayed and judged at the district fair, and awards were presented in the evening.
During prior weeks, 7,264 elementary and sixth grade students participated in their building science fairs, with first place and grand prize winners advancing to the district fair.
According to Ginger Britain, assistant director of elementary curriculum, students competed in life science, physical science and Earth science. "Judges commented upon the high quality of projects submitted this year," reported Ms. Britain.
Grand prize winners have been invited to compete in the North Dallas Regional Science Fair on Feb. 27-28.
"Plano students in first grade through six grades will compete with students from Richardson, Garland, Carrolton-Farmers Branch, Mesquite, Allen, and McKinney," said Ms. Britain. "We wish all Plano students success at the regional fair!"
