Convocation 2008 Photo Gallery

Pictures Speak a Thousand Words

Employees Fill Sanctuary

"This is not your normal early morning staff meeting," School Board President Lloyd "Skip" Jenkins told Plano ISD employees at the school district's August 19 convocation. "It's a great way to start the day to have coffee with 7,000 of your closest friends and professional associates." The convocation "pep rally" was held at Prestonwood Church in Plano to kick off a successful 2008-09 school year for faculty and staff.

Opening Processional

Elementary Teacher of the Year Janet Napoli, Skaggs Elementary School, high-fived School Trustees (l-r) Missy Bender and Mary Beth King during the event's opening ceremony. She and Secondary Teacher of the Year Amber Evans, Williams High School, joined trustees and other district leaders in rallying employees at the early-morning event.

Choir & Orchestra

Plano ISD's Staff Orchestra and Choir were an awesome sight and sound for convocation guests. Jeff Turner directed the groups in a musical medley during Plano ISD's pre-event staff video extravaganza. Kathy Kuddes directed the groups in playing and singing "America the Beautiful" as well as "My Time to Shine," a song written by Brad Green, one of Ms. Kuddes' students at the North Texas Kodály Institute.

Student Singers

Students made a surprise visit at the program's conclusion, joining the Plano ISD Staff Choir in singing "My Time to Shine." Student singers were Aubrey and Ashley Seibert (Mom is Susan Seibert, Hunt Elementary music specialist); Aria and Aaron Child (Mom is Hillary Leverton, Stinson Elementary music specialist); Jensyn and Jarrett Hatcher (Mom is Janet Hatcher, Renner MS choir director); Ashley Smith (Mom is Jasper HS administrative intern); Tate Keen (Mom is Brenda Keen, Hightower Elementary music specialist).
