Plano East Student Wins Culinary Gold Medal and Scholarship

The Plano East Culinary Arts classes competed at the SKILLS USA State Competition held recently in Corpus Christi and came home winners. Lois Conwell, Culinary Arts instructor at Plano East, reported the following awards.

Meghan Andrewartha won a gold medal in the commercial baking contest and will be advancing to th national competition this summer. She received a $12,000 scholarship from the Culinary Institute of America. She also won the gold medal in the technical testing for culinary arts and a blue ribbon for her cake project.

Cake Project: Michelle Denlar won a Red Ribbon
Knife Skills project: Matt Rovelli won a White Ribbon
