Deputy Superintendent Jeff Bailey Accepts Position in Rockwall ISD
April 21, 2009
The Plano Independent School District announced today that the district’s Deputy Superintendent Jeff Bailey is resigning after thirty years of service to Plano ISD. Superintendent Dr. Doug Otto accepted the resignation announcement this morning following Mr. Bailey’s approval last night by the Rockwall Independent School District as its new deputy superintendent.
Mr. Bailey began his educational career as a teacher and coach in Plano ISD in 1979. Subsequently, he served the district as an assistant principal, personnel director and principal. As area assistant superintendent for the East Cluster from 1997-2007, his responsibilities included the instructional and operational management of 27 campuses in the fastest growing region of the Plano district.
In 2007, Mr. Bailey became deputy superintendent for Plano ISD, overseeing the day-to-day operations of 68 campuses, and administrative management of departments such as human resources, student and family services, security and athletics. Mr. Bailey holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Science in Educational Administration, both from East Texas State University.
In a statement this week, Mr. Bailey said:
"Serving the Plano ISD community for more than thirty years has been a distinct pleasure and an honor. My entire career reflects the uncompromising commitment to excellence in education as expected by our school community of staff, parents and students. I am thankful for the experiences and growth that have prepared me for the next opportunity to champion the education of school children.
"I wish to express my gratitude to Superintendent Dr. Doug Otto, his team and the Plano ISD Board of Trustees for entrusting to me the duties of deputy superintendent and for the many wonderful people with whom I’ve served over the decades. Plano ISD has afforded me the varied experiences that a thriving community focused on education can provide. I am proud of my career in Plano ISD and appreciate the preparation for this new chapter in my life. I will forever carry with me appreciation and affection for Plano ISD."
Jeff Bailey’s departure date from Plano ISD is yet to be determined. Dr. Otto is planning to post the deputy superintendent vacancy in the coming days.
Reflecting on Mr. Bailey’s service, Dr. Otto remarked, “There is truly no way to measure the lasting affect of Jeff’s service to Plano ISD. Spanning three decades, he participated in rapid growth, bond planning and implementation, boundary changes and the operational management of many areas that shape our organization. I wish him great success in his new venture and will be eager to learn of his accomplishments in Rockwall. He has been of tremendous support and he will be missed.”
