Plano ISD's annual elementary history fair attracted 1,718 student participants from schools across the district, including 197 students who advanced to the district fair held in November, 2008 (select link below to view results).
At the district fair, students receiving 1st, 2nd or 3rd place awards in each category received a trophy. Students receiving honorable mention received medals.
David Zhou and Prudhvi Gowkanapalli of Wells Elementary School captured a third place trophy for their history fair project "Charles Babbage: Designer of the Mechanical Computer."
The schools with the most entries and the most winners each received grand prize trophies. Daffron Elementary School had the most entries.

Meadows Elementary School students proudly showed off the ribbons that they earned at their campus history fair.
Research projects were based on the theme: “The Individual in History, Visions and Legacies.” Students had the opportunity to enter projects in four categories: individual display, group display, individual media and group media.
Projects submitted for judging had to be the student’s own work and researched during the current school year. Up to four students could create a display and research a topic together.
Each project had to include research and a narrative telling how the research was conducted. The history fair provided students the opportunity to apply many skills learned in various academic subjects.
