Bill Grego is a regular education bus driver whose routes include Shepard Elementary, Wilson Middle, and Vines High Schools. He also drives the athletic shuttle from Plano Senior High School to Jasper. He has 10 years of experience and an outstanding safety record of transporting 500,000 passengers for more than 150,000 miles with no road accidents.
Bill says that he still gets a kick out of going on field trips such as to the Outdoor Learning Center or for seventh grade girls basketball. He says the excitement and energy of these kids on trips rubs off on him and these are wonderful experiences for him. Bill says he is committed to doing everything he can to make the bus ride a fun part of all events.
Valerie King
Thomas Elementary School
FANS Manager
Thomas Elementary School Food and Nutritional Services (FANS) Manager Valerie King is the recipient of the FANS department's Rising Star Award and Squeaky Clean Awards. On April 2, she added the Superintendent’s Service Award to her repertoire.
As a food service manager for four years, Valerie says her proudest accomplishments include motivating the FANS staff to become “TEAM Thomas.” As a team, she says, they have developed the attitude of “We Can Do,” and their team is very active in all school events.
Valerie says her proudest accomplishment is watching how their teamwork and customer service contribute to no child going hungry at Thomas. Valerie is an outstanding example of teamwork and humanity toward students.
Kathy Bressler
Hightower Elementary School PE Assistant
A district employee for 17 years, Kathy Bressler, physical education assistant at Hightower Elementary, has promoted good health with the implementation of the wellness program, which includes the weigh-down program and the pedometer challenges.
She has shown a caring heart for all children by demonstrating patience with the little ones first learning to tie their shoes, and ensuring that her students feel good about trying new skills and activities.
School Board President Lloyd "Skip" Jenkins presented plaques to the Superintendent's Service Award winners, including Kathy Bressler.
Although the P.E. environment may be fun-filled, Kathy’s students know they are working to achieve something better within themselves. Kathy says she enjoys seeing smiles on children’s faces and knowing that she was an integral part of making sure students feel safe and successful. Please congratulate Kathy Bressler.
