Plano East Theatre Student Wins State Playwrighting Contest

 David Pluebell, a senior in the International Baccalaureate and Theatre Major Studies programs at Plano East Senior High School, has been selected as the winner of the Texas Educational Theatre Associations’ Playfest Competition.
David’s winning play will be produced at the state convention to be held in Dallas at the Hyatt Regency on January 22 and 23. He will also receive a $200 award. Plano East Theatre students will present his play "UnknOwen" at Plano East on February 11 and 12.
In David's play, a man wakes up with no knowledge of who he is or where he is, except that his name is Owen. He is then thrust into a strange world with other people who also are missing their memories. Owen must lead them to regain their memories and understand the strange world in which they exist.
According to Plano East Theatre Director Lisa Hale, this is the second time in three years that a Plano East Theatre Major Studies student has won this prestigious award.
