Students 'Gross Out' While Learning about the Human Body at Sci-Tech Discovery Center Exhibit

December 17, 2009

Student at Sci-TechApproximately 600 Plano ISD students from six elementary schools visited Sci-Tech Discovery Center's "Grossology" exhibit this month, enjoying mind-stretching fun as they learned about the "impolite science of the human body." The exhibit continues through January 3. Based on the book by science teacher Sylvia Branzei, the exhibition explains to children ages 6-14 how and why their bodies produce "mushy, oozy, crusty, scaly, stinky things that many people think are gross," according to the Sci-Tech Discovery Center.

The "Grossology" exhibit fulfills several learning goals for the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) for students. Visiting the center this month were Plano ISD elementary school students from Aldridge, Barron, Memorial, Mendenhall, Sigler and Wyatt.

The "Grossology" exhibit continues through January 3, 2010. Learn more at: mindstretchingfun.org.
