Four Music Ensembles Earn National Recognition
October 2, 2009
Four Plano ISD musical ensembles and twenty-four individual student musicians received notice in September that they are among an elite group across the nation selected for recognition by the National Wind Band Honors and the National Choral Honors project. "The programs seek to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school groups,” noted Kathy Kuddes, Plano ISD fine arts director.
The project gathers recorded entries from across the United States which are heard by top adjudicators in the field of band, choir or orchestra music. Entrants receive detailed comments and a recording of the winning performances. The program goals are to improve performance among school music ensembles and to spread knowledge of quality literature for such groups.
