Andrews Elementary Student Wins State SAR Poster Contest

April 29, 2016

Kara Smith, Andrews Elementary School fifth grade student, was selected as a state winner in the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) poster contest. Her poster will be entered in the national contest to be judged this summer. The SAR local chapter honored Kara and presented her with a monetary award at her campus spirit assembly for winning at the district level on March 4. She will be honored once again at her campus spirit assembly on June 3.

Each year, fifth grade students in Plano ISD have the opportunity to participate in the National Americanism Poster Contest sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution local chapter. The theme this year was “The Winter at Valley Forge.”  The winning poster is entered at the state level. State winners are then entered in the national contest judged in Boston, Massachusetts.
