Early Voting Begins on Monday, April 25

On May 7, Collin County voters residing within the Plano ISD attendance zone will be asked to consider a single proposition to provide $481 million toward eight major project areas with no increase to the tax rate. The bond proposal is based upon recommendations of a facilities and technology task force. If approved, all campuses will be impacted by district-wide security updates, renovations and facility upgrades, as well as technology improvements. Early Voting April 25-30 and May 2-3
Early voting in the May 7 bond election will be held from April 25-30 and May 2 and 3. View this document for early voting and election day polling locations, dates and times, and visit the Collin County Elections website for more information.

Bond Information Meetings April 25 & 28
Plano ISD community members are invited to attend bond information meetings on April 25 and 28. Superintendent Dr. Brian Binggeli will present information and answer questions. Meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Vines High School (April 25) and Shepton High School (April 28). View the full meeting schedule. read

Bond Refunding Transaction Saves $77.6 Million
The district entered into a bond refunding transaction on February 24 which resulted in a total debt service savings of $77.6 million and a net present value savings of $55.4 million. At the April 5 school board meeting, Plano ISD's CFO Steve Fortenberry and the financial company FirstSouthwest presented a bond refunding report showing favorable results and savings for the school district. read

Plano East Band Program Captures Exclusive 'John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Flag of Honor'

The Plano East Senior High School Band Program captured the 2016 Sudler Flag of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. This year, only two high school bands earned the exclusive international award, which is based on several consecutive years of excellence. The Plano East Band is among few high school bands to have received both the Sudler Flag (2016) and the Sudler Shield (2012). Read an interview with Director Evelio Villarreal.read

2015-16 District-wide Fine Arts Achievements

At the April 5 meeting of the Plano ISD Board of Trustees, the district's fine arts program was recognized for several 2015-16 achievements in art, music, theatre and speech. Kathy Kuddes, director of fine arts, presented a brief report and provided copies of a Plano ISD Fine Arts 2015-16 brochure PDF containing student and staff achievements and leadership positions held by staff at state and national levels. read

Registration Ongoing for Free Full-Day Pre-K

Plano ISD's new Free Full Day Pre-K program will serve young learners at Christie, Huffman, Jackson, Memorial and Thomas Elementary Schools. Beaty, Isaacs and Pearson Early Childhood Schools will serve the remainder of Plano ISD. Students who qualify would also receive ESL or bilingual services as well as special education services. Children must qualify based on household income. read

'MealViewer' Web & App Versions Now Available

Plano ISD Food and Nutritional Services is pleased to announce MealViewer, a new on-line communication tool for menus and nutritional information with web and mobile app versions. Parents can retrieve menus and dietary information anywhere anytime. This new feature will assist communication between parents and campus nurses for students' daily dietary choices, displaying menus and nutritional and allergen information. MealViewer can be accessed through the Plano ISD Food and Nutritional Services website or through the MealViewer website.
