Plano ISD Students Capture Six of Eight Grand Prize Awards at Dallas Regional Science Fair

Senior division grand prize winners Nicky Wojtania, Darshan Shaastri and Brian Du were all smiles following their victory at the Beal Bank Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair on February 27 at Dallas Fair Park. They were among six Plano ISD students to win grand prize awards in the senior and junior divisions at the fair. Plano ISD students won more than 200 first through fourth place and special awards, advancing 52 senior projects (65 students) and 36 junior projects (41 students) to the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair to be held next week in San Antonio. Competing at state will be student representatives from 11 of 13 middle schools and 8 of 10 high schools in Plano ISD. read

Bond Proposal Information Meetings to be Hosted by Superintendent at High Schools Beginning March 28

Plano ISD community members are invited to attend any of six information meetings to be hosted this spring about the district's May 7 bond election proposal. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Binggeli will present information and answer questions. Meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the district's high schools. 'Little Free Library' Family Literacy Outreach Project to Provide Book Lending Stations Across Community

Sunshine, chirping birds, hammers and drills were the sights and sounds at Harrington Library on March 15, as families from Plano ISD's family literacy programs built 20 Little Free Libraries during a state-wide tour of "Across America with Little Free Library" outreach campaign. The service project involved families from Plano Family Literacy School and Sigler Family Literacy Program who assembled and decorated small lending libraries to be placed around the community. Plano West Choir Collaborates with Dallas Winds and Conductor Eric Whitacre in 'Godzilla Eats Las Vegas'

The Grammy Education Award-winning Plano West Senior High School Choir and select members of the Berkner and Coppell High School Choirs collaborated with the Dallas Winds and composer/conductor Eric Whitacre in a March 22 concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. The concert titled "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas: The Music of Eric Whitacre" encompassed Whitacre's music of recent years. READ

Congratulations to 111 Plano ISD Career & Technical Education (CTE) students who have advanced to state level competitions. Students participating in events related to business, marketing, culinary arts, fashion design and agriculture have earned top awards in area and regional competitions, while students enrolled in the Plano ISD Health Sciences Academy have earned numerous certifications. Plano Senior High School Debate Team Among 'Elite 8' to Compete in International Public Policy Forum

A Plano Senior High School debate team has advanced to the "Elite 8" to compete at the Brewer Foundation/NYU International Public Policy Forum (IPPF) next weekend at New York University. The team advanced from the "Top 64" to "Sweet 16" to "Elite 8" and will compete for a $10,000 grand prize and the Brewer Cup. READ
