Community Invited to April 25 School Board Candidates' Forum Hosted by Plano ISD Groups
The Plano ISD Key Communicators and the Plano ISD Council of PTAs are pleased to host the 2013 School Board Candidates' Forum on Thursday, April 25. The forum will be held at the Plano ISD Administrative Building, 2700 West 15th Street, in the first floor school board room, at 7:00 p.m., with candidates beginning their closing statements at 8:30 p.m.
Thirteen candidates have filed to run for five places on the school board in the May 11, 2013, election. All qualified school board candidates have been invited to participate and to complete a candidate questionnaire. Completed questionnaires are posted in this newsletter.
The April 25 forum will be recorded and available for viewing on the Plano ISD website following the event.
The Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected to serve, without compensation, for overlapping terms of four years each. Elections are conducted in May of odd numbered years.
While candidates run for specific places, they do not represent specific geographical areas; rather, each represents Plano ISD at large. Following the election, the board elects a president, vice-president and secretary to serve for one-year terms.
