Q:
What is the instructional program at the early childhood
schools?
There
is an established curriculum based on the 202 student expectations of
the prekindergarten guidelines developed by the Texas Education Agency.
These
guidelines provide the foundation for the learning experiences provided
in the Plano ISD kindergarten program. Curriculum and instruction for
students
receiving special education services are driven by students' Individual
Education Plans (IEPs) as required by law. The program follows the
philosophy of developmentally
appropriate practices by creating a caring community of learners where
teachers enhance the development and learning of each child. The students
are actively
engaged in a variety of educational experiences that promote their interest
and foster growth in language and literacy, math and science concepts,
health and safety practices, social skills, physical development and
fine arts.
Q: What staff members are at each campus?
Plano ISD employs qualified
professional and paraprofessional staff members
for each building. These staff members include certified teachers,
licensed
speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists,
campus librarian, registered nurse, licensed school counselor, campus technology
assistant and teaching assistants in each classroom.
How was the construction of these schools funded?
The early childhood
schools were constructed using funds approved by
voters in Plano ISD's 2000
bond election.
