About Barron Early Childhood School
Plano ISD operates three Early Childhood Schools (ECS) to serve students throughout our school district. We offer a quality preschool program for children ages three to five on three campuses: Barron ECS, Beaty ECS, and Pearson ECS. Barron Early Childhood School is the school that serves the children on the east side of Plano.
Barron ECS is part of the district plan that allows it to meet the state-mandated guidelines for prekindergarten students and the least restrictive environment mandate for preschool special education students as required by state and federal law.
Students may enroll under three different criteria: 1) Tuition-Supported Prekindergarten, OR, one of the following two state and federal programs: 2) Prekindergarten, OR 3) Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD).
Parents of tuition-supported prekindergarten students will be responsible to provide transportation for their children and may apply to have their child attend the campus of their choice.
The school provides a language and literacy enriched environment where children have hands-on opportunities to learn. Our child-centered program follows the developmentally appropriate practices outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The curriculum framework follows the Texas Prekindergarten Curriculum Guidelines and provides an instructional program that is vertically aligned with the Kindergarten Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
Tour Dates 2008-2009
- Barron ECS - 9:00 a.m. - September 12, October 10, November 7, January 9, February 6, March 6, April 3 (Guests should call Mrs. Paula Dittmar at 469-752-0203 in order to reserve a spot on the tour. They should report to the front office at 8:55 a.m. for the 9:00 a.m. tours.
- Pearson ECS - 1:00 p.m. on October 3; November 14; December 12; January 16; February 20; March 27; April 17; and May 15. (Guests should call Mrs. Gray at 469-752-4302 to make a reservation. All guests need to arrive at 12:55 p.m. in the front office for the 1:00 p.m. tours.)
- Beaty ECS - 9:00 a.m. – October 10, December 12, February 6, April 3 and at 1:00 p.m. – November 7, January 9, March 6. (Guests should call Ms. Rhonda Creed at 469-752-4203 to make a reservation. All guests need to arrive at 8:55 a.m. in the front office for the 9:00 a.m. tours and 12:55 p.m. for the 1:00 p.m. tours.)
