Achievements
District Teacher of the Year 2007 Patt Henry, District New Teacher of the Year 2007 Miguel Lopez, STEM Teaching Award for Mathematics Kelly Brooks, WHS Orchestras earned "Sweepstakes Awards" at the UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contests. Participated at the Orchestra Region and All-State levels as well as receiving Superior and Excellent Ratings at the Local and State-Level Solo & Ensemble Contests. 9th grade boys' basketball A-team district champions. 9th grade boys' basketball B-team district champs. 9th grade boys' football A-team city champs. First through fourth place winners in the district MLK art contest. LASER had students attend the State Science Fair in Arlington Texas. Several students competed at Regional Science fair and won approximately $1000 in prize money. CIS had its annual CIS Warrior Cup Soccer tournament with over 50 students participating. Two 10th grade students enrolled at TAMS UNT. Williams Band received a First Division Rating at UIL Marching Contest, Concert Band received an excellent rating at UIL Concert and Sight reading Contest and Symphonic Band received first division in sight-reading and an excellent rating on the concert performance. Both bands earned first division ratings and were runner-up to Best in Class at the South Coast Music Festival in Galveston. The band also had four students make All Region Band and 82 students to earn first division ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest.
