Liz Kirby
Principal Month Spotlight:
Loving what she does is key to Liz Kirby's success

Beverly Elementary School's Liz Kirby has been a principal for 33 years and in education for 43 years. The first question that comes to mind is, after being in education for so long, how do you maintain your enthusiasm?

“I love what I do,” Ms. Kirby said. “To me, walking into a positive school environment is the best place you can be. And I think it is the most important place we can be. I believe that good schools and good teachers make a difference in the lives of children and families every year. I know that it is my responsibility to foster and support an environment that continues to make those differences.”

Like many teachers, Liz enjoyed “playing school” as a child. Plus, two aunts who were teachers served as role models.

Inspired by teachers during her years as a student in Dallas ISD and later in college, Liz said, " There never seemed to be a question in my mind concerning education as my career choice." read
