Superintendent's Service Award nominees, retirees and service pin recipients to be honored on April 7

Fifty employees have been nominated for the Superintendent's Service Award and will be honored at Plano ISD's 51st Annual "Salute to Service" employee banquet to be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 at Southfork Ranch. Also honored at the banquet will be about 30 retiring employees and several employees with 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service to Plano schools. Special thanks to the Plano ISD Education Foundation and Southwest Airlines for round trip tickets that will go to one lucky honoree in a drawing at the banquet. Four schools earn state counseling awards; Haun wins at 'Lone Star' level

Four Plano ISD schools received 2015-16 Texas School Counseling Association (TSCA) CREST awards (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas). Counselors from Haun and Stinson Elementary Schools and Robinson and Schimelpfenig Middle Schools were awarded at the TSCA conference. Superintendent to host bond election information meetings at high schools

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Binggeli is hosting a series of six information meetings about the May 7 bond election proposal. The meetings are open to the public and are being held at the district's six high schools. Five remaining meetings will be held throughout the month of April. Friday, April 8 is the application deadline for candidates to attend Plano ISD's April 23 teacher job fair. Candidates must apply online by April 8 to be admitted to the fair. Staff members from all Plano ISD campuses will attend the job fair to speak to candidates. read
Plano ISD Council of PTAs' Life Member Banquet, "A Garden of Thanks for All You Do," was held on February 18, with Dr. Brian Binggeli serving as guest speaker. Some 130 honorees received life memberships, four of whom earned extended service awards. read
The Plano ISD Alumni Association hosted its third annual golf tourney on Monday at Gleneagles Country Club. The event was a huge success, with 91 golfers and many volunteers. Check out our event video video, and view several images in this event photo gallery.

Williams High School art teacher named best in nation's western region

Christine Miller, Williams High School visual arts team leader, captured the 2016 Western Region Secondary Art Educator of the Year Award and was recognized during the National Art Education Association's conference held this month in Chicago.

"Christine epitomizes the spirit of teaching with heart. Her mindset is about finding innovative ways to grow her students' capacity for critical thinking and empathy towards community," said Laura Grundler, visual arts coordinator. "She constantly investigates new teaching techniques, invests in professional learning and improves the art of instruction." read
