COBRA
Continuation Coverage
2011-12 Health Plan - COBRA Open Enrollment
During the open enrollment period, current COBRA participants will receive enrollment packets at their home address. They may make any benefit changes, which will take effect September 1, 2011.
Coverage for dental, vision, and EAP is handled through PISD. Forms and payments must be sent to the PISD benefits office.
Coverage for medical is handled separately by Blue Cross Blue Shield for TRS-ActiveCare. Forms and payments for medical coverage must be sent directly to Blue Cross Blue Shield only.
2011-12 Plan Changes
- Age Limit for Children - On the dental and vision plans, children may be covered through the end of the month in which they reach age 26. A child whose coverage ended, who was denied coverage, or who was not eligible for coverage because of being over age 25, may be enrolled in the plan as of 9/1/11, if the child still qualifies as an eligible dependent under age 26. You may submit the enrollment request during this enrollment period.
- Vision Plans - The vision plans will have a small premium reduction, and the coverage for out-of-network services will increase slightly. In-network coverage remains the same.
- Non-Medical Alternate Plan - This plan will no longer be offered. Current coverage under this plan will end on 8/31/11. All claims must be filed within 12 months from the date of service.
