403(b) / 457

The 403(b) program is managed by the Business Services Division/Payroll Department.

401(a) Retirement Plan

Plano ISD has established a 401(a) retirement savings plan for all teachers. Each spring the district makes an annual contribution of $500 into this plan for your retirement. ING Financial Services is the exclusive provider for the Plano ISD 401(a) Plan.

Here is how it works:

  • $500 is placed into a personal ING Money Market VP Fund.
  • Funds may be directed into a selection of 70 different investment options.
  • Local ING representatives are available to meet with employees to discuss the various funds available.

  • The vesting period is 50% at 5 years of service, 75% at 6 years and 100% at 7 years.

Plano ISD is committed to retaining and attracting excellent teachers. This is just one way the district shows its support to employees who make a difference in the lives of our students.

Teachers Retirement System

Employees who work at least 50% will automatically become members of the Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Standard contributions from both the district and the employee are made to TRS. Employees also make standard monthly contributions to the TRS-Care retiree insurance plan, which is available upon your retirement through TRS.
