Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Minored in Spanish
Hello! My name is Kenji Walker and I am excited to be part of the Otto Middle School family! Most importantly, I am elated to be a Spanish Teacher this year! It’s going to be an awesome year full of lots of learning and new adventures! I’m thrilled about the student progression and what the year has in store for us. One thing I know for sure, it’s going to be awesome!
I was born and raised in McKinney, Texas. I grew up in a big family. I am the 8th of 15 children. I loved growing up in a big family because there was always something crazy going on and many things to do. There was lots of discipline, and lots more love to follow. I would not have had it any other way.
Education is important in my family. I graduated from McKinney High School. Then, I went on to Sam Houston State University where I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Spanish. Afterwards, I worked with adjudicated youth at Gulf Coast Trades Center in New Waverly, Texas, but I always loved Spanish. After leaving New Waverly, Texas, I moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I experienced a new culture, new foods, a beautiful island, great people, and a complete immersion. It was with this experience that I learned why Puerto Rico is the “Isla del Encanto”, (Island of Enchantment/Charm) as well as reaching personal goal of being fluent in Spanish.
I was a substitute in McKinney, Allen, and Frisco ISD. I also taught 3rd grade bilingual classes in a local charter school. Today, I am a proud member of Otto Middle School where I will be making my mark.
