Ms. Madison Swinton

First Grade Team Leader

 

My name is Madison Swinton and I love being at Shepard Elementary! This will be my first year as the first-grade team leader! I grew up in Plano, Texas attending Haun Elementary and graduation from Plano Senior High School (Go Wildcats!). I love being back in Plano as a third-generation Plano Independent School District teacher. I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Family and Child Development. Go Bobcats! I earned my teaching certificate through Region 10 while working as a paraprofessional at Beaty Early Childhood. I got into my own classroom as fast as I could! For the past 5 years I have been teaching second grade and I am so excited to be moving down into first. I am a mother to a sweet little boy named Noah who is will be turning 3 years old this September. It is the best thing to watch him grow and learn new things. We are always outside exploring and enjoying parks and trails.
 
I love learning with my students and seeing everyone's growth throughout the year. I know this year will be no exception!

  • Mrs. Swinton's Class Schedule

    7:00 am - 7:30 am Early Morning Drop-Off. During this time, students will be either in the gym or in the cafeteria for breakfast until the 7:30 am bell rings.

    7:30 am - 8:00 am Arrival, Morning Work, Announcements, Morning Meeting/Calendar 

    8:00 am - 10:15 am Literacy (Reading, Writing, Grammar, Foundational Skills)

    • 20-30 minutes- Foundational Skill/Grammar Skill
    • 20 mins- Whole Group Reading Lesson
    • 20 mins- Whole Group Writing Lesson
    • 50-70 mins- Small groups targeted instruction/independent work

    My conference time is 1:55 pm - 2:45 pm. I will be available to talk with you most days during that time. I am also usually available after school until 3:30 pm if you have any questions or concerns.
