Ms. Elizabeth Hunter-Dowd

I am originally from Los Angeles, California, and attended California State University at Long Beach majoring in Communication Design. I worked for over 10 years in marketing communication before moving to Plano, Texas. I returned to school to get my teaching certifications when my own children were little.

I have certifications in ESL, General Education EC-6, and Special Education EC-12.

I recently taught 4th-grade general education at Mathews for 2 years. Before that, I taught in special education for 15 years - 12 of which were at Mathews!

This year, I am excited to support Mathew's students as an ESL specialist.

Both of my own children grew up in PISD schools: Becky is a 3rd-year veterinary student at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from Texas A&M with a BS degree in Meteorology, Brian is currently a marine weather forecaster with a global private company in New York. He plans and monitors weather forecasts for commercial ships all over the world.

My dear husband, John, and I have been married for 29 years. We love Aggies, animals, science and would rather be visiting a US national park than anywhere else in the world. We have a big, beautiful, and goofy Boxer dog named Copper.
