Mrs. Lisa Hamid
This is my 22nd year of teaching, which has been filled with a wide range of experience. I have taught students from pre-K through adults in private, public, and even an international school in Japan (thanks to my participation in the 2018 IEJ (International Educators to Japan) Program. I’ve been a 3rd & 5th grade classroom teacher, an ESL teacher, a secondary reading teacher, an instructional/dyslexia specialist, an adult ESL instructional coach. This year I have the privilege of being the ESL Coach/Interventionist at Skaggs Elementary(80%) and the Virtual Academy(20%). I specialize in language acquisition, literacy development, and providing teacher professional development & parent workshops.
I am currently serving on the TEA Multilingual Advisory Council to create an online toolkit that connects emergent bilingual families and teachers to a variety of supports. It has been an honor to collaborate with other educators throughout Texas and the country to better serve multilingual families throughout Texas. One of the best parts of my job is getting to know the families of the students I teach, so don’t ever hesitate to ask me any questions you have. I will always be an advocate for your child/children, and will push for what I believe is best for them.
Besides devoting much of my love and time to teaching, I always find time to garden, study Arabic, and best of all…spend time with my family. I have two wonderful grown sons and a husband that has shown me how to care for others through his actions.
