Hello!

My name is Melissa Haynie.

I love being a first grade teacher at Stinson!

I love teaching and, as a result of my experiences, I have developed personal goals and beliefs that guide my role as a teacher. My main goal is to create a safe, welcoming classroom community where every child feels valued and successful. I want to foster a “can-do” attitude and to spark an insatiable curiosity for knowledge within each of my students. I recognize that each child is unique in his or her own way and has been blessed with a wealth of individual talents. I strive to help each of my students build upon their talents to succeed both in and out of school. I hope to mold a classroom full of independent thinkers and well-rounded individuals.

I am certified to teach Early Childhood - 6th grade, ESL, Special Education and have completed Gifted and Talented training. I have taught first, second and fourth grades (but first grade is my favorite!)

When I'm not teaching I love spending time with my family -  my husband, Andrew, our 4 year old son, Andy, and I am currently pregnant with our daughter, Grace, who is due in October.
