All Plano ISD teachers are given the opportunity to reflectively set and own your professional goals and direct your learning as you pursue excellence and innovation in your classroom. Goal Groups are a great way for you to connect to each other and build community as you work through your action steps, gather resources, and reflect about your growth and your students' progress. Your goal is uniquely yours, but it may also connect to work other teachers are doing across the district. We have identified broad instructional areas that connect to many teacher-created goals and will continue to add more groups as this year's goals are recorded.
How do Goal Groups Work?
Goals groups are asynchronous learning experiences that allow you to spend personal time exploring best practices, gathering resources, and reflecting on your growth and your students' progress as it relates to your TPG/SLO (Teacher Professional Goal/Student Learning Outcome). Although you will be working on your own, we will be providing deadlines to ensure that we all move together through the content and have the opportunity to give and receive feedback from each other.
Two Goal Groups will be offered each cycle:
- Classroom Environment
Each Goal Group will be available for three separate cycles of learning, You may join the same Goal Group more than once in the same year, and you may participate in both goal groups at the same time. Each Goal Group Session can count for up to 2 hours of Professional Learning credit based on your participation. Once you join a goal group, you will select one of the topics below to focus your learning:
