Addressing the Board

Community members are encouraged to share their perspectives, concerns and ideas directly with the Plano ISD Board of Trustees. Whether through public comment at meetings, written correspondence or other forms of communication, the board values community input and considers it an important part of informed decision-making.

The public comment online sign-up period for regular meetings and work sessions is open from 8:00 a.m. until one hour prior to the start of the meeting on the day of the meeting, unless otherwise noted in the meeting agenda.* For all other board meetings where public comment is heard, online sign-up will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the business day prior to the scheduled meeting, unless otherwise noted in the meeting agenda. A device will be available in the lobby of the Plano ISD Administration Building during the sign-up period for individuals who do not have computer or mobile phone access.

* Please note that the process for accepting public comment submissions may be adjusted for any given meeting, which will be detailed in the meeting agenda. Guidelines outlined in the meeting agenda supersede guidelines posted on this web page. Public comment submissions are not transferrable to other speakers.

Ways to Address the Board

Parents and stakeholders can engage with the Board in a variety of ways:

  • NEW Community Input Meetings: During the school year, the Board of Trustees will host periodic Community Input Meetings in the boardroom of the Plano ISD Administration Building. All community input meetings will be publicly posted in the same manner as a regularly scheduled Board meeting to ensure all members of the public receive an opportunity to be notified of the meeting. To allow for a more collaborative meeting, Community Input Meetings are not governed by the Texas Open Meetings Act. These sessions give families and community members expanded opportunities to address non-agenda topics with Trustees.
  • Let’s Talk: Plano ISD’s official Board communication portal is available anytime, year-round, for submitting feedback or concerns directly to the board. All questions will be answered within 48 hours.
  • Direct Contact with Trustees: Every Board member maintains an official email account and voicemail, listed on the Trustee Profile pages. Trustees respond to correspondence received via these channels in accordance with Board Operating Procedures.
  • Recommended Communication Steps: To resolve school-related questions or concerns most efficiently, families are encouraged to first contact campus staff or administration before reaching out to the Board.
