The Plano ISD Code of Civility
The Plano Code is our shared standard for how we treat one another.
We are a community made up of students, families, educators, staff, and neighbors. The Plano Code reflects our shared commitment to treating one another with trust, care, responsibility, and respect.
These principles are more than words on a page. The Code comes to life through our everyday actions, whether in a classroom, at a school event, in the workplace, or simply as part of the Plano community.
Why the Code of Civility Matters
Every interaction matters. The way we treat one another builds trust, strengthens relationships, supports student learning, and helps create schools where students, families, staff, and community members feel welcome and valued.
Feedback from our students, teachers, families, and community shaped the Plano Code. Its four core principles align with the character traits in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS):
- Trustworthy: Build trust through honesty and integrity.
- Caring: Show kindness, empathy, and concern for others.
- Responsible: Take ownership of our actions and commitments.
- Respectful Citizens: Treat others with dignity and contribute to a positive community.
Together, these principles form the Code we share as a community.
The Plano ISD Code of Civility reflects who we are and how we choose to treat one another.

Need to Resolve a Concern?
Plano ISD values open communication and collaboration. We are committed to resolving concerns quickly, respectfully, and with dignity so that everyone feels heard.
If you have a question or concern, please start with the staff member closest to the situation (such as the teacher, principal, or campus administrator). Addressing issues early and at the school level almost always leads to the fastest resolution.
