In Plano ISD, we believe in a thriving school community where everyone feels empowered and valued. The Plano Code of Civility is our shared commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all. Guided by our vision of excellence, caring, and learning, it is a standard we are all Plano ISD Proud to uphold.
Why the Code of Civility Matters
The way we treat one another shapes the experience of every student, employee, family, and community member. Positive relationships build trust, strengthen our schools, support student learning, and create a culture where everyone feels welcome, valued, and connected. By working together with kindness, respect, and responsibility, we help ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Built with feedback from our teachers, students, and community, these four core principles align directly with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) character traits:
- Trustworthiness: Build trust through honesty and integrity.
- Caring: Foster a culture of kindness and empathy.
- Responsible: Take ownership of your actions and commitments.
- Respectful Citizens: Create a positive and inclusive environment where every voice is heard.
By embracing the Plano Code, we all work together to ensure our schools are welcoming, safe, and positive spaces.The Code of Civility is more than a set of principles—it comes to life through our daily actions. Whether in the classroom, at school events, in the workplace, or throughout our community, each of us plays a role in creating a positive and respectful culture.

Plano ISD values open communication and collaboration. We are committed to resolving concerns quickly, respectfully, and with dignity so that everyone feels heard.
If you have a question or concern, please start with the staff member closest to the situation (such as the teacher, principal, or campus administrator). Addressing issues early and at the school level almost always leads to the fastest resolution.
