Board Citizen Advisory Committees
Plano ISD has three Board Citizen Advisory Committees that meet throughout the year to provide feedback to the Board of Trustees and Superintendent. District-Based Improvement Committee
The District-Based Improvement Committee (DBIC) is a statutory advisory group that plays a central role in shaping the district’s educational strategies and performance objectives. This committee provides input and feedback on various topics, including the District Improvement and Professional Learning Plans. The DBIC meets four times a year.
School Health Advisory Committee
The School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is state-mandated. It operates within state law and board policy to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district’s health education instruction. This committee provides input and feedback on health-related matters and instructional materials related to human sexuality. SHAC meets four times a year.
School Library Advisory Committee
The School Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) is new for 2025-2026 and is established in accordance with Senate Bill 13 and policy EFB(LOCAL). This committee plays a vital role in shaping library policies and ensuring transparency and community engagement in the development of district library collections. It will provide recommendations for library purchases and facilitate reconsideration committees for challenged library materials. SLAC meets at least two times a year.
