Program Tracks
HSA Students may choose to participate in a Collin College Certification Track and/or the Plano ISD Biomedical Sciences Track. Students will apply for Collin College tracks in their 10th grade year. Details including sample four year plans for each track are outlined below.

Biomedical Science Track
The Health Sciences Academy students also have the opportunity to participate in the Biomedical Sciences Track. This is a Plano ISD track and is not a partnership with Collin College. The curriculum for the Biomedical Science Track is from Project Lead the Way (PLTW). These courses are distinguished level courses and are weighted at 5.0.
- Principles of Biomedical Science (10th grade)
- Human Body Systems (11th grade)
- Medical Interventions (12th grade)
9th Grade

Students will attend Williams High School.
- Plano ISD course: taught by a Plano ISD teacher
- Articulated credit with Collin College
- Students will take an articulation test in class at the end of the spring semester.
- Students that score 75 or higher on the test can petition for the credit to be on their Collin College transcript.
- Students continuing on in the dual credit portion of HSA will apply to Collin College in the spring semester during class. The Collin College advisor will assist with this process.
- Students will be enrolled in the dual credit courses for HSA 10th grade by Collin College.
- Students can choose to take the Biomedical Science track, the Collin College track or both tracks in 10th grade.
- Students in the biomedical science track and the Collin College track in 10th grade are eligible for an e-school course at no cost to the student. This is to free up space in their schedule to take both programs.
- The 9th grade course is a 1-hour course weighted 4.0
10th Grade
Collin College Dual Credit Tracks
- Students will attend Williams High School.
- Students will meet 1 period/day
- Students will begin Collin College workforce dual credit courses including:
- Medical Terminology
- Healthcare Communications
- Pathophysiology
- Students must earn a grade of 75 or higher in the workforce dual credit courses to continue in HSA.
- Students will apply for Collin College tracks for 11th & 12th grades. Collin College will post applications, interview students and select students for tracks.
- Collin College workforce dual credit courses in the 10th grade are weighted at 4.5.
- Collin College workforce dual credit courses will remain on the students' permanent college transcript.
10th Grade
Plano ISD Biomedical Science Track
- Students will attend Williams high school.
- Biomedical Science is 1 period/day.
- Students will take Principles of Biomedical Science.
- Biomedical Science courses are weighted at 5.0.
11th Grade
Collin College Dual Credit Tracks
- Students will attend Plano East Senior High. Students in the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) tracks will participate in clinicals in the fall semester.
- Students on the Medical Assisting track will have classes at the Collin College Spring Creek campus.
- Students will need to provide their own transportation to Collin College.
- CNA, PCT and MA students will meet for two-course classes.
- Workforce dual credit courses are weighted at 4.5.
- The clinical portion of all tracks is weighted at 5.0.
- Students can choose to take academic dual credit courses. Tuition will be covered by HSA.
11th Grade
Plano ISD Biomedical Science Track
- Students will attend Plano East Senior High
- Biomedical Science is 1 period/day
- Students will take Human Body Systems
- Biomedical Science courses are weighted at 5.0.
- Students can choose to take academic dual credit courses. Tuition will be covered by HSA
12th Grade
Collin College Dual Credit Tracks
- Students will attend Plano East Senior High
- Students in Electrocardiograph Tech (EKG), Rehabilitation Aide (RA) and Medical Assisting will participate in clinicals. Students will need to provide their own transportation.
- Students in the Emergency Medical Technician Track (EMT) will complete clinicals the summer after high school graduation.
- Students earning a certification in the Collin tracks will participate in a pinning ceremony prior to graduation.
- Workforce dual credit courses are weighted at 4.5.
- The clinical portion of all tracks is weighted at 5.0.
12th Grade
Plano ISD Biomedical Science Track
- Students will attend Plano East Senior High.
- Biomedical Science is 1 period/day.
- Students will take Medical Innovations.
- Biomedical Science courses are weighted at 5.0.
- Students can choose to take academic dual credit courses. Tuition will be covered by HSA.
