Notability
The Notability iPad app is a note-taking tool that allows you to annotate on the iPad with ease. Jot down thoughts, import and annotate textbooks, sync your notes with audio, or sketch your next masterpiece.
Note that Plano ISD teachers have a paid license for Explain Everything which has similar capabilities as Notability and can also allow you to record the screen!
Uses for Notability
MORE THAN PAPER AND PEN
- Write on a variety of paper templates with customizable spacing and backgrounds
- Take notes with multi-media tools like pencil, highlighter, text, and audio.
- Mark up textbooks, documents, lecture slides, assignments, or images.
- Clean up calculations with Math Conversion technology.
- Search anything in your notes, including handwriting and imported documents.
- Organize notes with customizable subjects and dividers.

Tips and Tricks
- Auto-Backup to Google Drive: Settings > Auto Backup > Google Drive > Close.
- Choose your document preferences: Settings > Document > select default template, date/time stamp, layout, etc.
- Use Subjects and Dividers to organize work. Gallery > Subjects > Click the plus button + (adjust
- Pen tool - press and hold to make straight lines, works with highlighter too.
- Lasso - Select free form then mass select to delete or change format.
- Import documents - Share > upload to Notability
- Create your own sticker, insert GIFs and sticky notes.
