Instructional Program
Plano ISD teaches the district curriculum in both English and Spanish according to the Two-Way Dual Language Immersion program model.

The program launched with Pre-K and Kindergarten in the 2024–25 school year.

It will expand each year to the next grade level until students complete 5th grade.
Language Allocation

Pre-K through 5th grade:

50% of instruction is in Spanish

50% of instruction is in English

Each content unit concludes with a “bridge” activity that helps students:

Build linguistic understanding

Expand vocabulary in the opposite language

Program Structure and Goals

The Two-Way Dual Language program is a choice program that integrates:

English-proficient students

Spanish-speaking students

Students remain in the program through 5th grade.

The program supports students in:

Developing oral and cognitive academic language in both English and Spanish

Mastering grade-level knowledge and skills in all elementary content areas

Program Goal: All students become bilingual and biliterate.

Parent Information Meetings
Enrollment for the 26-27 school year will begin on March 23rd. We will begin holding our required parent information meetings beginning on that same day at 4:00. We will begin the weekly meeting on March 23rd and we will hold weekly meetings on Mondays at 4:00. Please join the meeting using this zoom link.
Additional Information about two-way dual language participation:
1. We enroll students in our two-way dual language program when they are in prek and kindergarten.
2. Parents/Guardians must do their online enrollment before attending the parent meeting.
3. Parents/Guardians must attend one parent information meeting in order to be considered.
4. Parents/Guardians who confirm interest using the form provided in our parent information meeting will be notified if their child has a seat in the program.

Steps to Enroll in the Two-Way Dual Language Program

Register your child in Plano ISD.

Attend a required parent information meeting.

Receive placement information.

You will receive either a confirmation of a seat or a notification that your child has been placed on the waitlist.
