Fare Busing

2025-26 Update

FARE Busing is a limited transportation service provided by Plano ISD for students who live within two miles of their designated campus.

This service is dependent on available seating on existing regular education bus routes.
Once a bus reaches full capacity, no additional routes will be added to support FARE Busing.
As a result, this service is very limited, and not all applications will be approved due to space constraints on current routes.

FARE Busing is only available to students attending schools within their assigned, Board-approved attendance boundary, as verified in Skyward. Transportation follows specific guidelines for students who walk the distances listed below to the bus stop by age group.

Please note: Transportation is not provided for students who transfer to a school outside their designated attendance boundary, in accordance with the district’s transfer guidelines.

Application Process

Applications for Fare Busing do not carry forward from one school year to the next. You must reapply each year for each student. Applications for the following school year may be submitted beginning in September of the current school year.

Access Application (Available September 2, 2025)

Parents may submit a FARE Busing application to Plano ISD Transportation. The application will open on September 2, 2025 (following the Labor Day Holiday).
FARE busing applications will be evaluated starting October 1, 2025, as the district must first offer transportation to all current eligible students.
Availability is restricted to specific areas where capacity allows and is offered on a space-available, first-come, first-served basis.
Once the district has established ridership, FARE busing may be provided on a space-available, first-come, first-served basis.
Once a route is full, FARE busing will not be provided for that route.
No additional FARE busing routes will be added.
Not all applications will be approved due to space constraints on current routes.
All applications for FARE busing services will receive a notification of approval or denial.

Approvals

All approvals will only be held for up to 48 hours.
Failure to render payment in 48 hours will result in forfeiture of the student’s spot on the bus.
Upon approval, a payment of $800 (prorated by month for a partial year, and is non-refundable). Please refrain from making any payments until you receive notification from the Fare Busing Office. Student Quickpay
Reduced rates are also available for students who qualify for the free and reduced National School Lunch Program at a cost of $350 (prorated by month for a partial year, and is non-refundable).
Fare Busing students will be assigned to existing stops on bus routes as space and time allows.
The availability of seats varies with each route and each school year.

Students participating in the Fare Busing Program are required to adhere to the same safety rules and are subject to the same disciplinary procedures as other students. Drivers are not authorized to accept payments for the Fare Busing Program. Payments must be made through the online Student Quickpay system.

Enrollment Procedures

Complete the FARE Busing application (available September 2, 2025 following the Labor Day holiday).
Once payment has been made, you can access your student’s bus information using MyRide K-12 and Skyward. This can take up to 48 hours.
You will be contacted when the process is complete. If we confirm that we can accommodate your student in the program, you will be required to make a payment for the school year within 48 hours to initiate the service. The preferred method of payment is through the electronic Student Quickpay service.
