John Neumann

As a Plano ISD alumnus, I am grateful to be able to give back to the community which helped shape the person I am today.  I attended Wells Elementary, Schimelpfenig Middle School, Jasper High School, and Plano Senior High School as a student.  After graduating from Plano Senior High School, I attended and graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a degree in Economics.  I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.

I'm excited to begin my 12th year as a teacher in Plano ISD and my 4th year at Murphy Middle School!  As an educator, I have served as a special education team leader, ACHIEVE Classroom teacher, FOCUS Classroom teacher, and Developmental/Life Skills Classroom teacher.

I am a lucky husband and a proud papa of four "fur babies" - two dogs and two cats.

In my spare time: I enjoy watching baseball (Go Rangers and Cubs!) and basketball (Go Mavs!), playing ultimate frisbee and disc golf, and traveling with my wife.  I was captain of the University of Oklahoma ultimate frisbee team my senior year, and I have also played ultimate frisbee at the semi-professional level for Tulsa and Dallas.

    Whiz Quiz Club

Whiz Quiz is a fun way for students to engage in academic competition.  Students buzz in to answer trivia questions that are pulled from the middle school curriculum and current events.  Teams of seven students per grade level compete at the district level near the end of February or early March each year.  Murphy's Whiz Quiz club will have open practices until the end of January when the teams of seven per grade level will be selected.
