• Gateway Academy

    The SME-EF (Society of Manufacturing Engineers - Education Foundation)/PLTW (Project Lead The Way) Gateway Academy Summer Youth Program is a hands-on, project-based camp designed to introduce middle school students to the fundamentals of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM).

    Certified PLTW instructors provide expert instruction in small group settings. Students work together in a fun, exciting environment using leading-edge technologies to sample a variety of engineering activities and projects.

    Enrollment will open March 1, 2019 and close May 22, 2019.

  • Who Can Enroll?

    Plano ISD students entering grades seven or eight.

    Enrollment at each camp location is limited to a maximum of 25 students. Students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Students may only attend one session.

    How do I Register?

    The Gateway Camp Registration is a 2-step process.

    Step 1: Complete the PayPAMS Payment

    • Tuition is $100 (includes camp t-shirt).
    • Payment must be made before registering below.
    • Return to this page after paying and receiving payment confirmation number.

    Step 2: Complete the registration - Register for Camp

    Entries are accepted in the order that they are received. Enrollment at each camp location is limited to 25 students per session. If you register and a place is not available you will be contacted and given the option of attending at a different date and/or location, or having your payment refunded. IMPORTANT NOTE!!! This system does not send an automatic confirmation email to you (like many other systems we are all used to using). THEREFORE, please know that a confirmation email will be manually sent in 5-7 business days.

  • Bus Transportation

    (utilizing the Plano ISD Summer School/SIGS Busses)

    The Gateway Academy summer engineering camp is divided into two sites.  A Plano ISD bus will run from each PISD elementary school to the camp site that the elementary feeds to. Bus schedules (including pick-up/drop-off times) will be available prior to the start of camp. 

    If you choose to use this service, a bus pass/badge is required each day and will be sent prior to the start of camp.

    NOTE: In order for students to ride the bus, they must live in the attendance zone for the bus stop.

    Bus pick up locations are not available at this time.  If you are in need of transportation information once it is available, please indicate that on the form during registration.

  • Snacks

    Snacks will be available for purchase during scheduled break times.  Each campus will have a different selction.  Students are encouraged to bring a snack or purchase one.

  • Refund Information

    Refunds for tuition payments will not be made after May 22, 2018.
